Wind Instrument Lessons
Woodwinds:
laura Cox offers private instruction to students of all ages wishing to study woodwind instruments. She teaches lessons for flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and Irish tin whistle.
laura is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Music Education. she holds a Virginia Teaching Certificate and has classroom experience as a band director. This experience allows her to instruct students in a similar manner to what they may be accustomed to in a full band rehearsal, but with the individual attention that is so vitally important to a musician's continuing development.
she teaches various styles of music including band literature and method books, jazz, and solo literature. she also teaches concepts such as pitch recognition, rhythm, audiation, scales, music theory, aura skills, sight reading and sight singing skills. she is also happy to tailor lessons to help students reach both long and short term goals.
laura currently plays baritone saxophone for the Blacksburg Community Band and performs regularly with them all year long.
Standard rates are $25 for a half hour or $45 for an hour lesson.
